Agencies.

A good agency gives you a full team, a polished process, and a brand that looks the part.

But you often pay for layers you don’t need, timelines you don’t control, and work designed to impress the agency before it grows your business.

Freelancers.

A talented freelancer can move fast, cost less, and bring real craft to the work.

But when one person is stretched too thin, consistency, systems, and accountability are usually the first things to crack.

Templates.

Templates are fast, affordable, and honestly — plenty of them look pretty good.

So does every other business using the same one. When your site looks like your competitor’s, price becomes the only thing left to compete on.

The problem, in short

Most websites launch, get praised for a week, then disappear.

The Lab exists to build websites that earn their keep — generating calls, bookings, and qualified enquiries from day one.

Real results

Proof over promises.

Real projects. Real businesses. Real outcomes — measured in enquiries, bookings, and demand, not screenshots.

No bloated plugins. No fragile shortcuts. No nasty surprises twelve months in.

Results You Can Measure.

So you know what your site is doing for the business — not just what it looks like.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Still on the fence?

No pitch, no obligation — just a straight read on what's working and what isn't. Watch it, decide later.

Scope is set per business, so I quote each project rather than publish a list. The entry point is the 1-1-1 Launchpad at $1,000 NZD— one page, one week.

Full builds are larger, and can be paid in two stages or spread equally across 12 months. Every project starts with a short qualification, so the scope and the price fit what the business actually needs.

Yes. Every live site is paired with Pulse — my ongoing support plan. It's a condition of the build, not an optional add-on.

Websites don't sit still. Hosting, security patches, platform updates, backups, and the occasional thing that breaks all need someone on them. Sites left alone get slower, quietly stop working, and cost more to rebuild than they ever would have to maintain.

On the Launchpad, Pulse is $97/month NZD, first month included, no minimum term. On full builds it's matched to the site and what it's doing — a busy CMS site needs more attention than a one-pager. You'll see the number in your proposal before you sign anything.

A 1-1-1 Launchpad is one week. Full builds start from six weeks, depending on scope and how quickly feedback comes back.

The process is milestone-based, so you always know what stage you're at and what's next. No disappearing for a month and resurfacing with a surprise.

Yes. CMS sites — content management systems — are set up so you can update the parts that change often: galleries, listings, articles. You add and remove content without touching what keeps the site fast, stable, and structured.

Simpler sites are built to be low-maintenance and optimised from day one, copy and images included — so there’s less that needs changing. You can still edit them yourself through a dedicated editor, with recorded training built around your site.

Or don’t — send the change through and it’s done. That’s what the support plan is for.

Trades, venues, and professional practices describe the kind of owner I build best for, not a hard gate. The real fit is character — you treat the work as a craft, hold a high standard, and want a site that brings in work. If that's you, the niche on the door matters less than how you run the business. The qualification step sorts it out either way.

Every website is built in Webflow because it’s fast, secure, scalable, and gives clients an editing experience that doesn’t require plugins or constant maintenance. It’s the platform I know inside out, which means I spend more time improving your website instead of fixing it.

Not necessarily. Some clients arrive with everything ready to go, while others need help with structure, messaging or copywriting. We’ll work out what’s missing during qualification and build around that.

Launch isn’t the finish line. Every project includes a structured handover, and ongoing improvements are handled through a support plan. That means your website stays fast, secure and continues evolving alongside your business.

Every project starts with a short qualification call because the best websites come from clear expectations on both sides. It's a chance to understand your business, your goals and whether I'm the right fit. If I don't think I'm the best person for the job, I'll tell you.

filter, not form

Not every business is a fit.

That's intentional.

The Lab works with trades, venues, and professional practices that see their work as their craft — and want a website that reflects that standard.

Not for businesses chasing:

The cheapest option

The fastest shortcut

A website that simply "looks nice"

For businesses that want:

More trust

Clearer positioning

More qualified calls and bookings

Capacity is intentionally limited. Projects are taken on selectively, and every enquiry starts with a simple qualification step.

Who you work with

Built by someone obsessed with the result.

Logies Lab is a founder-led studio based in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Every project is led by me — strategy, positioning, design direction, and the final call on quality. You work directly with the person responsible for the outcome, not a chain of account managers and handoffs.

I've worked across these industries before I ever designed for them — landscaping at seventeen, personal training through my early twenties, and the better part of a decade in hospitality and events since. I know how customers in these niches think, decide, hesitate, and book — because I've been on the other side of it.

I treat every client's business as if it were my own. That means understanding your customers, your craft, and what actually makes someone choose you before a single section is designed or a line of copy is written.

Hands-on execution. Senior-level thinking. No layers you don't need.
